Our 11th Yule Calendar surprise is another new Yule song by me: "Longing Home for Yule".
I wanted to make a bittersweet song about someone who can't be home for Yule. This song is about a Yuletide vendor travelling from village to village and from door to door, selling their wares and spreading Yule cheer, but at the same time, feeling sad that they can't be home with their loved ones.

Time of cheer and wonder
See the light of candles
Chase away the hunger
Yet it’s cold where I ride
Nobody by my side
I’m a Yuletide vendor
Trading gifts of splendor
All that one could ever wish for
I sell from door to door
How I wish to be home
Away from the winter’s hold
I wish I could sit by the warmth of my hearth
Wrapped in the arms of my sweetheart
But I’m bound for travels
Spreading Yuletide marvels
When a child unwraps a toy
That brings me sweet joy
It is what keeps me on going
Yuletide spirit a-bringing
This road I must follow
Yet I feel hollow
I wish I could sit by the warmth of my hearth
Wrapped in the arms of my sweetheart
But I’m bound for travels
Spreading Yuletide marvels

Hear their singing and have them right here
To be home for Yuletide

One day, I won’t have to travel no more

Under the hollies, away from the breeze
I’ll enjoy the Yule peace
Until that day, I stay on the road
Conveying treats of love

For once in my lifetime
The song follows the "melody" from the theme of "Three Wishes for Cinderella". It's a popular Yuletide film in many European countries. If you haven't seen it yet, I can warmly recommend it. Here's a version with English subtitles.
